Jim Anderson was elected chair of the Hydro-Meteorological Equipment Industry (HMEI) at the organizations 21st General Assembly meeting held during the World Meteorological Congress, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 3 to June 14. Anderson is the senior vice president of global sales at Earth Networks where he is focused on meeting the weather and environmental monitoring needs for a number of vertical market stakeholders including government agencies, and the agriculture, energy and transportation sectors. Anderson joined the company in 2002 and led the launch of the business efforts in the energy, public safety, federal government, and commercial verticals. Previously, Anderson served as a principal consultant at American Management Systems, where he helped launch the energy and utilities practice. Prior to that, he conducted economic and public policy research in the agriculture and environmental sectors. Anderson holds an MBA from Georgetown University, an MSc in environmental economics and policy from the University of Maine, and a BSc in biology and economics from the University of WisconsinMadison.
