A website has been launched providing weather forecasts for 137 territories along China’s Belt and Road economic initiative.
The public can log on to the official Belt and Road Portal of China and website of the China Meteorological Administration and get real-time access to the five-day forecast of targeted cities.
The website was jointly developed by the National Meteorological Center, China Meteorological News Press, and Belt and Road Portal.
The service products include weather phenomena for the following five days covering temperature, wind direction, windspeed and precipitation. Data is updated on a 12-hour basis.
The information is also available on the World Meteorological Centre Beijing’s website, with global users able to make custom service products.
The development of new meteorological services for Belt and Road has helped to solve the problem of sparse observation sites in less developed regions and to improve data quality.
