EKO Instruments is the industry leader for solar sensors, solar monitoring solutions, and scientific instruments for meteorological and environmental research. Made in Japan, and with a 90-year plus reputation for reliability & precision, EKO designed and built instruments are today deployed around the world, supporting environmental research and renewable energy projects through continuous innovation, industry-leading solutions, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
The only solar sensor manufacturer in the world to operate its own solar parks, EKO has a history of industry-leading firsts with products like the MS-90 Plus+ solar monitoring station designed to add value and support their customers.
A new total solar irradiance solution, MS-90 Plus+ is a compact alternative to larger sun trackers, that combines the companies unique MS-90 DNI Sensor, a new C-Box smart interface, and EKO’s industry-leading MS-80 Class A Pyranometer into one cost-efficient package that measures DNI, GHI, and DHI; the three components of solar irradiance.
From climate study and automatic sunshine duration recording through to research and data for renewable energy applications, the MS-90 Plus+ delivers exceptional accuracy for the meteorological sector; and, thanks to its small size, the MS-90 Plus+ is easy to install on rooftops or other inaccessible areas, requiring less space, and with lower installation and maintenance costs, than a traditional sun tracker.
At the heart of the new system is the MS-90 DNI Sensor which employs a unique internal rotating mirror design that reflects sunlight to a high-speed pyroelectric detector, measuring direct radiation without the whole unit tracking the sun. The spectral sensitivity of the sensor covers a broad spectrum from 300 to 2500nm; enabling accurate measurements of DNI for meteorological observations.
Coupled with the MS-80 Class A Pyranometer; the only Class A pyranometer in the ISO 9060:2018 Class A top tier ‘fast-response’ and ‘spectrally flat’ sub-categories, with unprecedented low zero-offset behaviour, and a 5-year recalibration interval; the MS-90 Plus+ is an ideal choice for hard to reach installations where regular maintenance may be difficult or impossible.
